es un disco de canciones inéditas grabado entre amigos. Es un disco de 8 artistas de 8 países distintos. A pesar de la diversidad de todos nosotros, lo que tenemos en común es un amor por la música y nuestra amistad y por eso nombré el proyecto "Piano Sin Fronteras". Es un proyecto donde la calidad y respecto por la música son las cosas más importantes sobre todo. Lo siguiente es una historia breve de como nació "Piano Sin Fronteras".

RM: Ricardo me llamó hace 4 años con la idea tocar en vivo con el y Fonsi para Los Billboards...todo acústico, no grupo, solamente piano y 2 voces.!!! Nos conocimos en el estudio para los ensayos y hubo química entre nosotros. La canción que tocamos se llama “No Me Llamas Extranjero" y la gente en el show se emocionó mucho con el tema por todos los problemas de inmigración y por la música. Hemos hecho muchas cosas juntas después de los Billboards incluyendo tocar juntos en el concierto de Juanes "Colombia Sin Minas” en Los Angeles. Escribí "Ya Te Olvidé" con Ricardo y Edgar Cortazar y Universal quedó tan emocionado con el studio session que grabamos el video la semana siguiente. No hay palabras para describir suficientemente el talento inmenso que ES Ricardo Montaner.

Fonsi: Conocí a Fonsi el mismo día que conocí a Ricardo y bajo las mismas circunstancias y hubo química muy buena también. Después nos encontramos en varios shows y premios y también en la boda de una amiga que tenemos en común. Hablamos durante esa boda sobre hacer algo juntos y el timing era perfecto. Como yo, Luis estudió música en la universidad, entonces pasamos súper divertido creando varios ideas y hooks durante un almuerzo en mi casa. Después, fuimos a mi estudio y salió una canción. Después de hablar con Claudia Brant en LA sobre las letras, al día siguiente nació "Te Quiero Llevar". Aparte de su talento impresionante, Fonsi tiene una energía positiva que siempre esta con el.

Alexandre Pires: Hice un show para el Super Bowl en Miami hace algunos años con mi banda, y cuando me levanté para hablar en el mic, allá puro frente a mí estaba Alexandre Pires!! Que Sorpresa!!! Fíjate que en esa época Alex y yo estábamos en el mismo sello, y alguien de la disquera lo llevó a verme mi tocar. Después del show nos pusimos a hablar de piano (Alex le fascina el piano) y la música de Jobim and bossa nova de Brasil (una de mis pasiones) y resulta que fuimos a mi casa la noche siguiente para tomarnos unos tragos y hacer un jam session. Lo que salió fue “Te Tengo Dentro De Mi". Alex tiene un soul enorme en su voz y hasta su corazón.

Sergio Vallin: Conocí a Sergio a través Robert Treviño, el director de relaciones artísticas de Baldwin. Inmediatamente descubrimos algo súper fuerte en común: como yo, Sergio estudió mucha música clásica. Ha sido una experiencia única y súper divertida hangin out con Sergio, hablando de toda clase de música y finalmente escribiendo y arreglando "Café Con Leche" juntos. La canción, con vocales flamencos, la guitarra en fuego de Sergio Vallin y mi piano es totalmente un jam internacional.

Juanes: He conocido a Juanes por 8 años porque compartimos el mismo manager Fernán Martinez cuando empecé mi carrera artística en el 2000. Hicimos "jam sessions" súper cool en esos días en mi casa y en la casa de Fernán mezclando la música Colombiana con el blues de mi ciudad, Detroit, y somos amigos desde esos días. Juanes tiene un sentido musical supremamente enfocado y natural y pasé divertidísimo improvisando con el. Escribí "Lago Calima" después de una vista allá que me inspiró mucho (es un lago a 2 horas de Cali) con algunos amigos. Es un jam de guitarra y piano con la firma inolvidable de Juanes en todas partes.

Laura Pausini: Conocí a Laura durante un show en el Gibson Amphitheater en Los Angeles. Laura es una de las personas más musicales que he conocido en mi vida. Cuando le escribí a invitarla al disco, resultó que Luis Fonsi también le había hablado del proyecto, o sea que quedó todo entre amigos. Recibí un email de ella un día diciéndome que estaba en medio de su disco nuevo y sin un segundo pero que tenía una melodia y letras que eran los votos para la boda de su hermana y quería saber si le pondría mi piano. Pues, me inspiró inmediatamente por la belleza de la melodia, letras y su voz. Escribí un arreglo para mi piano para que quedara un dueto puro: Sólo mi piano y la voz de bronce de Laura.

Myriam Hernández: Tuve el honor de tocar un dueto con Myriam para el TV special "Homenaje a Marco Antonio Solís" y en el momento en que la conocí, sentí como si la hubiera conocido toda mi vida. Que voz increíble y que mujer increíble! Nos divertimos tanto tocando en el show que fue a mi casa con su esposo Jorge la semana siguiente y decidimos grabar juntos mi canción "Que Tu Piano Hable Por Ti", la cual, me da mucho orgullo decir, es el primero sencillo de "Piano Sin Fronteras". Myriam es un talento natural y creo que nunca ha cantado una nota desafinada en toda su vida!

Ricardo Montaner: Ricardo called me like 4 years ago with an idea to do a song live with he and Luis Fonsi for the Billboard awards: no band....just solo piano and 2 voices. Very exposed!!! We all met at the studio for rehearsals and kind of hit it off....just a great, fun musical vibe between the 3 of us. The song we did was "No Me Llames Extranjero" and it turned out to be a very emotional moment in the show as it struck a chord with all the immigration issues circulating at the time. We've since done many things socially and professionally together including performing together in the Juanes Colombia Sin Minas show in LA. "Ya Te Olvidé" was written by myself, Ricardo and Edgar Cortazar in LA and Universal was so excited with how the recording session went that we filmed the music video the very next week! Words really can't describe the immense talent that is Ricardo Montaner.

Fonsi: I met Luis the same day I met Ricardo under the same circumstances rehearsing for the Billboards and we just had a cool chemistry. We then kept running into each other at various shows and events and even at a mutual friend's wedding! It was there we talked about a collaboration and the timing for this album turned out to be perfect. Like myself Luis studied music at university so we had a great time kicking around different arranging ideas during lunch at my house. We then went into my studio and surprisingly we kicked out a song in just a few hours. A call to Claudia Brant in LA to help with lyrics was made and the follow day we recorded the demo to "Te Quiero Llevar". Apart from being a huge talent, Fonsi carries an incredible aura of positive energy that is with him where ever he goes.

Alexandre Pires: I did a show for the Super Bowl a few years ago in Miami with my group and when I got up from the piano to say something in the mic after finishing a song there was Alexandre Pires right in front. What a surprise!!! It turned out that, as we were at that time, on the same record label, people from the label brought him by to see the show. We hung out that night talking piano (he LOVES piano) and Jobim and bossa nova (one of my passions!) and he ended up coming by to the house the following night with his guitar for some drinks and a jam session. The result was our duet "Te Tengo Dentro De Mi". Alex has unbelievable soul in his voice.

Sergio Vallin: Sergio and I have the same endorsers (Gibson/Baldwin) and their Latin Artist relations Director Robert Trevino initially hooked the two of us up. We right away discovered that we had something in common in that we both have strong classical music backrounds. It's been really a lot of fun hanging out talking about and playing all kinds of music together and finally coming up with the arrangement for "Cafe Con Leche" which, with Flamenco backround vocals, Sergio's smoking guitar and the piano, is pretty much an international jam.

Juanes: I've known Juanes for 8 years because we shared the same manager (Fernan Martinez) when I was first signed as an artist in 2000. We had some awesome jam sessions at my house and at Fernan's mixing Colombian music with rock piano and the blues in those days and have been in contact ever since. Juanes has a super keen musical sense about him and it's been very cool bouncing composition ideas off him. I wrote "Lago Calima" after an inspirational trip there (it's a beautiful lake in Colombia) with some friends and we had a great time jamming back and forth and mixing Juanes' signature guitar sound with my piano.

Laura Pausini: I met Laura backstage at a show we were both performing in at the Gibson Amphitheater in Los Angeles. She is one of the most musical artists that I have ever met. She loves piano and we had talked for several months of collaborating. I received an email from her one day telling me that she's in the middle of recording her new album in MIlan but that she had written musical vows for her sister's wedding "Prendo Te" ("I Take Thee") and wanted to send me the melody and words. It was unbelievably beautiful and inspired me to create my piano part and musical arrangement with no other instruments so as not to take away from the pure musicality of the duet. Just piano and Laura's singularly beautiful voice of bronze.

Myriam Hernandez: I had the honor of performing with Myriam for the TV special "Tribute To Marco Antonio Solis" and from the moment we met, I felt like I had known her all my life. Amazing voice and an even more amazing woman!!! We had so much fun doing the show that she and her husband Jorge came over for a dinner/jam session shortly thereafter where we on the spot decided to record my song "Que Tu Piano Hable Por Ti" which I'm proud to say is the first single of the album "Piano Sin Fronteras". Myriam is such a natural talent that I don't believe she has ever sang a wrong note in her entire life!!!

Milton Salcedo (producer): I've known of Milton and his work for years and finally got to know him personally through a mutual friend and world class percussionist Richard Bravo. Richard has played on all my albums and when he heard I was working on a new album he hooked me up with Milton. It's been an awesome experience as Milton is a pianist also, though at times distracting because while working on any given song, he at one piano and myself at another, we always end up in an improvised jam session which is one of the reasons why this album has taken so long to produce!!!
